The clutch release bearing has gone south on the 74. A short squeal and then the clutch no longer engages.....or only engages about half way. Question - Did I read something about an upgrade for this

Kevin Are you sure it is the release bearing? It could also be a whimpy slave cylinder. It is time to rebuild the slave anyway. A sure fire test would be to pump the clutch pedal a few times and see

Kevin, I just put my '74 Midget back on the road after major steel, paint, and engine work. I installed a roller bearing release bearing from MiniMania and it works very well. I also put in a teflon

Please tell me what it is! I went through THREE cans of brake fluid trying to bleed the clutch on my 1275. I thought I finally got it all out, but the clutch engages about two inches off the floor. T

John, I found that a PO had installed one of these in a 74 Midget I had when I pulled the trans to replace it with one whose third gear actually had some teeth on it. It had worked fine for 20,000 m

I got my "roller" T/O bearing from MiniMania....all metal as far as I know. Less "drag", much smoother action. Heartily recommended, don't leave home without one. No experience with the plastic case

FWIIW...the installation of the Spridget "roller" T/O bearing is a direct replacement....no fettling required. Cap'n. Bob '60 :{)
