It has a big lock washer on it, so you have to bend the washer's tab down before you start whacking it with a hammer and spanner Best Regards, Alan

Not sure about the BJ8 but my BN6 had locktabs from the washer between the nut and the crank bent over the nut to lock it in place. I used a small cold chisel to pry the tabs up then cut them off. To

My starter motor had no problems shearing the washer locktab and unscrewing the nut when I was adjusting the valves and using a large spanner to turn the motor. I forgot about the wrench being on the

I'm not sure how accessible the lock washer tab is for unbending with the engine installed in the car, but if it's not accessible and I were going to remove the nut, I'd just give the starter method
