I haven't done this with a Riley ... but, this is rather common practice on MGAs. Assuming the MGA commonality ... the Riley flywheel, front plate, and back plate should bolt right up the 1800 block

You'll have to fit the front bearer plate from the original 1972 engine (or any 56 to 74-1/2 BMC B-series motor) onto the '78 motor as the front mounts are different. Some grinding on the block is a
