Went to a Ham Radio Swap meet (aka Hamfest) today and found a pair of Hella H4's that the guy gave me for free since I (kinda) knew what they were. 1) Are all Hella h4's the same (i.e. will they fit

If they fit the sockets where the stock bulbs are, I wouldn't worry. Bulbs? Mine are sealed beams! (I guess that answers the first part of question 1 in the negative)! Mine is on my Spit! Regards, Jo

I have Hella H4 lamps in my saloon. Admittedly, these are a four headlamp setup but they were a straight swap for the dim Lucas Sealed beams that were there previously. As for wiring, I fitted a rel

If they're 7" diameter, then they'll fit. Auto parts stores. Please don't get those god-awful blue tinted bulbs, they are distracting. Philips seems to make the majority of bulbs around here. Do you

I have original Lucas H4 lamps with 55/100 watt bulbs in my TR-4, and they are fantastic if you live in a rural area and like to drive fast on country roads at night. You can easily see 3-5 times fa

As stated by another lister, if they are 7"round they should fit. (Apparently VW had some special ones 7" round ones made to fit their Euro grill on some GTIs -- chances are slim you got these for f

Assuming they are 7" round, the only other variation I'm aware of is which way they dip (right or left). Usually, you can see the extra wedge-shaped 'diffuser' section in the lens, which for US use

My apologies to the List. John's reply caused me to do some exploratory surgery which revealed that on the back of the "sealed beams" around the plug is a red rubber cover. Removing the cover reveals

My thanks to all who replied to my Hella post. To my surprise both bulbs inside were good. They are 55/66's and I think I'll leave them be till they need replacing. They fit fine and work great. I am

AFAIK, the left & right references mean which side of the road -- the bulbs are either for driving on the right side of the road or the left side of the road. In a pair, the bulb for the left headlig

Assuming you have a pair, they should be identical right and left. There are different lenses for RHD and LHD, but not for LHS and RHS <g> AFAIK, the bulbs themselves are identical both right/left a

My H4's throw the "recognizable H4 low-beam pattern". A horizontal bar that slopes downward on the right; that's where the low beams cut off. Both lights throw the same pattern. My dad had H4s in his
