<< Yeah there is nothing about this that should work... especially with no lead..... I am not sure what petrol is used. It might be 98 (English method of calculation) octane unleaded or 95 leaded. I
Interesting statements Daniel...... There are different octane ratings and I am not a rocket scientist on this stuff... I listen to my Engine builder on what to run as far as the Fuel Vs the current
No fair! I'm getting dieseling after switch-off and I suspect a bit of knocking with 96 octane leaded. I've only got ~9:1 CR, whats goin on? Is my ignition timing up the khyber? Andy
<< Is my ignition timing up the khyber? Andy >> Probably, but the mixture strength has an effect too, as does the overall running temp of the engine. Daniel1312
there are three reasons for dieseling as I understand it... A. a hot spot in the combustion chamber which continues to fire the mixture B. a throttle that can't be closed to prevent the fuel from con
I would have if I hadn't done a valve grind just before getting the car back on the road. The bores and piston tops were squeaky clean too. How fast does buildup build up? Andy
While there are chemicals on the market that remove carbon, cold water down the throat of a warm engine works wonders. Old, old trick but one that works, albeit difficult on side draught carbs. This
Not too good thanks Herb. I tried enriching the mixture a bit by turning that nut on the bottom of the carbies, but I'm not real sure of what I'm doing and now its running like a dog. I think I'll t
Everyone seems to have their own way. Assuming your carb is good order otherwise (throttle shafts ok, jets are centered, etc.), make sure your ignition is in good shape (points, plugs, timing etc.).
Ron and others, I was about to install a dellorto DHLA40 of my brothers but he said its more hassle than its worth, as last time he used it he had starting problems with it and reckons his sprite had
