If it is like my Sprite, the reason is probably that BL installed a std. grease fitting to get the oil in the rack. So in this case I would give 50% fault to the DPO and 50% fault to DBL ! Ulix P.S.

You don't have to buy an oil gun if you loosen the big end of one of the steering rack boots (at the top!) and pump in oil with the pump that comes with some kinds of gear oil. Denise Thorpe thorpe@k

It is true that the manual says to put oil in the rack. It is also true that when you buy a new rack, there's already grease in it. I think a combination of the two isn't going to hurt things, bit y

I remove these pieces, add the gear oil, and then reassemble. I do this once or twice a year. It is messy as I invariably drip oil on the rack in the process. But outside of the mess, it is a simple
