Aaron, I have always soaked my felt seals in 3 in 1 oil or something similar for a day or two. Then when inserting the dip stick and pushing it into the tube, I could get a good reading. It squeezes

Are you saying you put in 5 quarts, including a filter change? I believe the capacity is closer to 6 quarts. This extra quart should bring your oil level up to the top line on the dipstick. Tim Holb
