You don't. How much is your engine worth? Scrap that cooler. In fact, I'd scrap most any cooler of unknown parentage. Who knows what sort of accident may have exploded into its oil in the past. With

Healium's oil cooler is mounted where the heater intake would normally be. No great loss. I haven't needed a heater in two winters of owning the car. The ambient heat in the cockpit is plenty toasty.

I agree that is the common wisdom (never reuse a "used" oil cooler) but doesn't the oil filter take out the bits we are so frightened of. If not then the filter isn't much use is it? Derek Harling

Depends on where in the circuit the cooler is relative to the filter. If the cooler is before the filter, than it will tend to accumulate crud. Even so, since some crud is small enough to pass throug
