Does someone know where I can get slightly oversize exhaust valves for my BN2? The head I am using came off a 100M car. Somewhere in the past, someone put some oversize exhaust seats in it for whatev

Hi Mike, You didn't give any dimensions which makes it a bit hard to know just what oversize you need. Denis Welsh has exhaust valves for the BN2 in 1.562" & in 1.614". I think it is fairly common to

Maybe some one on the list has the measurements of the head of a six cylinder valve. The measurement of the standard 100-4 valve head is 1.415" - 1.420", or about 36mm. I rough measured the exhaust v

I don't know about the overall length of a 100-4 valve as opposed to a 6 cylinder valve, but according to original service manuals for both cars, the stem diameter is the same. Mike MacLean 56 BN2 60

To all that answered my question about what size exhaust valve to use in my 4 cylinder head because of the oversize seats, 3000 valves fit perfectly. Some suggested just that, but I always thought if

Hi Mike, It depends on the overall engine design. The in & out need to be somewhat balanced. What can't get out can't get in & vs. Usually the exhaust needs to flow about 70% to 80% of what the intak

It will be interesting to see how well this engine runs.

I have to disagree. Larger inlet valves are advantageous because a larger port opening makes filling the cylinder easier considering the fact that you have only the ambient air pressure outside the c

If you must disagree - OK. Note that I said exhaust around 70 to 80% & of the intake. Not exhaust the same as intake. I never said that they should be equal. The intake can be so large that velocity

I think larger inlet ports might be due to the fact that more gas, by weight, is entering the chamber under lower absolute pressure, whilst the exhaust ports have to handle less total weight of gas u

With respect (and agreeing that we are only talking about natural aspiration) I again have to differ. The down stroke of the piston can only act indirectly to induce the air fuel mixture to move by
