Dave, Are you sure the drops are comming off the back of the pan and not the weep hole in the bottom of the bell housing? I, with the engine in the car, replaced all the bearings in the bottom end o

Is there any truth to the rumor that the Moss rear seals are no longer sold because they don't work, and that Moss has had to replace numerous cranks that have been cut to fit the seal? John Middlesw

John, I don't believe so, as the same, or similar seal, was advertised by British Frame and Engine, Ken Gallanders (BFEKENG@aol.com), in their recently sales flier. In any event, I find it difficult

To clarify, the crank has narrow grooves cut into it, as opposed to raised ridges. I reread some earlier correspondence and realized I didn't address your question fully. Jack

The crank needs to be cut for the Moss seal kit, but I'm not sure what part of the crankshaft gets cut. George Richardson '57 TR3, TS15559L (getting ready to paint - and now on the web!) http://www.m

<UN-SNIP> Joe, et al... When I rebuilt my 1147 motor, I had the scroll area on the crank "spray welded", machined & polished, so that I could fit a 1500 Spit seal plate with a standard lip seal. Ther
