OK so I pulled Busy's steering wheel off to get it straight and managed to bugger up the threads on the steering column shaft. A 9/16 18 Fine appears to be too coarse and a check with a 9/16 20 gauge

The list is not stumped after all. I had faith that someone out there had an answer. Now the question is where to find a 9/16 x 28 Die. This one is buggered up but perhaps a jewelers file will work.

The shaft to rack pinion connection must allow for the pinch bolt to use the "deep groove" to locate the shaft. BE SURE TO USE A NEW HARDENED BOLT FOR THIS!!!!! (important) Peter C ==

I don't think it is a standard thread size. I could be wrong. I'll check in a little while. I have a column from a 60something MG. I think the dia is bigger than 1/2 and the TPI is greater than 20.
