- Square Trade is a mediation service that may or may not be owned by eBay. Not clear on that. A Google search on "square trade ebay" brings up a lot of discussion groups complaining about the ineffect

- If someone offers to accept payment via Square Trade, they're about to scam you (typically with a phony link). It's a mediation service, not a payment service.

- Never assume that the eBay account owner is aware that someone else is using their account for unscrupulous purposes. I have chased these scams before using local and federal law enforcement agencies
