My method to keep the needle bearings in place is to use a very heavy wheel bearing grease liberally on the bearings and pack them into the cups prior to inserting them into the yoke. Next, insert on

Thanks for the encouragement and advise (as well as the rest of the listers that responded). I too tend to go after a job with sheer determination. I was able to get the 2 u-joints in this morning.

I usually set one cup into the yoke, install the spider into that cup (to make sure the needle bearings are still "together") and push the spider up to help guide the second cup into place. I use my
