Does anybody have any notes on converting a negative ground TR radio to positive ground? My '63 TR4 came with a POC aftermarket radio which I removed when I started my restoration 18 years ago. I've

It would be very dificult to convert a radio internally. One solution is to completely insulate the frame of the radio so that the polarity of the radio is no longer important. The ground wire can th

Most car radios also have the antenna grounded both at the antenna mount and at the radio. I once saw an MGA catch fire because it had the "cross-wired" solution suggested by Trevor ! (no fuse in the

I did this conversion on my TR many years ago and have had no problem. May have been easier on a TR3 as the radio is hump-mounted, don't recall where they are on a TR4. As was noted elsewhere, I had

Thanks, I printed it out yesterday afternoon. Is it strange that I haven't gotten any recommendations to NOT convert to neg. ground? Is there any good reason not too? Dave.

Hi Dave, Have you considered converting the entire car to negative ground and leaving the radio alone? I would think that would be easier. It would also make simpler the addition of any other negativ

I know of no technical advantage to + ground, think I even heard that - ground cars were less prone to rust. I still maintain my TR with + ground just because -- for me -- this is, along with points
