I measured the length of wire around my pulley, water pump and generator and it was 41". The wire sat in the bottom of the V, so a Fan belt might be a bit shorter 7440, 9440 GATES belts are too short

Here's my two cents worth on that problem. Go to a parts store like NAPA or Autozone and tell them the size belt you think you need. They can tell the length by the stock #. If they 'll give refunds,

FWIW - from my notes, I measured my belt at one time - my old fan belt was a Gates 7440. It measured 3/8" x 44-3/4" OD. I'm now using a different belt because my alternator has a smaller pulley. Not
