can't help you with the steering, as to the bushes, all bushes have shore
rating, which indicates the hardness and with rubber bushes the wear
quality. Very often bushes sold by major companies come without rating and
thus without control of their quality so that it might be advisable to
change to poly bushes anyway. The problem is known for instance with bushes
for engine steadies for mini, these bushes always have a rating that is too
low for their application.
