A small aspect ratio tire (55) won't affect contact with suspension
pieces. Only an aspect ratio that is too large (causing an overall
diameter bigger than stock) or too large a tire cross section (215 vs.
185) would cause contact, and probably with the body rather than the
suspension pieces. The wheel itself is probably the only component at
risk of coming in contact with actual suspension pieces. A 7" width
rim will contact the A arms on a 15" diameter wheel, but not on the
16". Either way, this is not Jorge's problem, because his A arms have
been modified to clear the wheels. Because the overall diameter of the
wheel/tire assembly is smaller than a stock configuration, it seems
that it is just the width of the tire (Jorge is using 215s) that is
causing the troubles. However, 215s on 16x7 Panasports are being used
by others without troubles, so there is probably a problem with Jorge's
car. This suspicion is even more justified when you look at the
measurements taken yesterday, the car is higher on the passenger side
(compared to driver side) at the front, but lower on the passenger side
at the rear (except at rear bumper measurment, where the passenger side
is higher again...what's going on!!!). Jorge's problem is a mystery.
Perhaps (God forbid)a bent frame?? More investigation is probably
necessary, beginning with removing the springs, measuring their
uncompressed heights (in case they were manufactured wrong), and
carefully reinstalling them on opposite sides of the car, then retaking
measurements. Everything in the suspension needs to be carefully
reviewed. Jorge: did you get an alignmen done?
