Hi all-The open baffle design seems to produce an exceptable exhaust
tone under normal driving. I had experimented with dynaflow (a Walker
product) & Flowmaster with good around town results but on highway
cruises a 3,000 rpm resonation and an abrasive rasp under hard
exceloration made them unexceptable. I'm not sure if this 3,000rpm
resonation is indigenous to the TR motor but I don't know why it would
be different on another motor.
I like a louder than stock exhaust note but this was not a pleasant
noise & the buzz at highway speed drove me crazy ( a short walk ). Of
course the diameter of exhaust pipe, length of tail pipe after the
muffler will all effect your final musical note.
You would be amazed what a talented muffler shop can do to create a
custom system at a comparable price to a stock system.
