I got the flywheel off with the help of a piece of wood and a torque
wrench. I was ready to walk into the house to weight it, but the
boss stopped me at the door. Something about "not in my
house...you are just like one of the kids". Well she brought out the
scale and I did the subtraction method. I guess the flywheel is not
the only thing that needs to loose weight. The flywheel weighted 26
pounds. On the back, the side that faces the engine, there is a
wide 'V' groove all the way around. Is that stock? What final
weight is good. The Kastner manual does not say how much. I do
plan to still drive this on the street.

Thanks
Alan

I had mine lightened last year as much as possible along with other
modifications. I think if you really want a noticeable difference you need
to buy an aluminum flywheel. The car was quicker but probably from shaving
the head to 9.8 compression, big bore exhaust, headers and going with an
electric fan . I'll be ordering an alum. one for the car i'm working on now
(Fidenza for $325). Lightening the steel one is probably a waste of time,
just my opinion. My metal one had a groove also by the way.
This car will have the 9.8 head, alum. flywheel, headers and dual exhaust,
elec. fan and 3 strombergs. Now if i could just find the guys # in Ashtabula
that sells those flywheels, i lost it.
