Hi,

I can't comment too much on this except to say that you can't assume that
because a part was made in Mexico or China that it is of any particular
quality (or flat out wrong, as you point out.

What I can say is that if the box indicates a particular manufacturer, it
still doesn't mean anything. With all the mergers and buyouts etc., you
just don't know any more.

Case in point - engine bearings. As near as I can figure, there's only a
couple of companies out there now and they are owned by Federal Mogul and
maybe one or two others (like TRW, I think). But you buy a box from the
big three and it's labelled "AE Glacier". Guess what? It's not what it
used to be.

But we all know that, right?

The point is - "the devil is in the details". This is why you check
_everything_ when you repair/replace stuff on your car. If you just take
the parts out of the box and bolt 'em on, you may be lucky, you may be
sorry. I have simply chucked parts that were substandard in the ash bin
because it was less costly than returning them.

Buyer beware and don't be afraid to cheeck everything _twice_ before using
it in your car(s).
