Jon - As for as I know, it doesn't matter since electrically it's just a
simple solenoid.  Power goes to one post, flows through the windings of the
solenoid coil, and then to ground via the other post.
    Mine was inop when I started the resurection process from the DPO.  I
got one from a junkyard MG Midget, put it in, and it works as advertised.
(Well, it clicks when the car shuts down and since the engine dosen't run-on
I suppose it gets the credit)
   After reading Al's post from earlier today, the valve itself can create
an air leak to the intake manifold if it doesn't have an airtight seal when
it's off.  Unless an engine actually diesels on shutdown, it might be safer
to cap the vacuum (intake) line.
