To add to Vance's head gasket info: you really can't be sure if the correct 
gasket is installed unless you confirm whether you have a recessed block or 
not. Just because you have an engine in a '74 TR6 doesn't guarantee that you've 
got a recessed block.  I'm unaware of a cross-reference between block serial 
number and recession. On my '72, the original block was recessed, but my 
rebuilt block was not.  The rebuilt block was just a few hundred S/N's before 
the original recessed one.  Go figure.

Also, is the only difference (other than the tab) between the recessed and 
non-recessed head gaskets the metal reinforcement ring around the cylinder cut 
outs?
