I am looking for a machine shop in southern California (I live in Santa
Clarita) with TR6 experience for an upcoming project. The machine work would
be for the lower end and would include such things as boring and honing the
cylinders, checking the deck for flatness, checking the connecting rods,
checking and grinding the crankshaft, and perhaps boring the block for the
installation of cam bearings. Additional experience in the installation of
cylinder sleeves would be beneficial, in case there was significant damage to
one of the cylinders. The head was recently rebuilt with valves, guides,
seats and about 0.100" removed for a target compression or 8.5:1. I would
deliver the disassembled engine, source the parts, if needed, and will do the
engine assembly.

The car is basically a stock 1974, which developed a miss that was not
ignition related. A vacuum check indicated the problem might be isolated to
one cylinder and a compression check confirmed this with normal compression in
5 of the cylinders (140 to about 155 psi) and 30 psi in the #6 cylinder. The
valve clearance was checked and was within specifications. I pressurized the
#6 cylinder with air and the leakage was heard in the crankcase and not heard
through the valves. The odometer has about 106K miles on it and the car is
burning fair amount of oil, so a rebuild may be in order. Any thoughts or
suggestions on diagnosing the problem would be appreciated before I remove the
engine.

Thanks in advance

Tony
