James---Those of us who've been on this list for several years see this
"window crank and door handle pins" subject come up now and then. The
easiest way for me to deal with the removal and install of the pins goes
like this:

Punch out the pin by winding the window crank handle to a good angle.
The pin bore is .125, and probably worn slightly larger. Punch out the
pin(s) with a pin punch. Pre-bend the punch slightly, if need be.. Toss
these pins in the trash. Get a stick of .125 (1/8") steel rod from at
Seff's hardware store. Buy at least foot of it. Using a hacksaw, cut
nearly thru the rod a half inch from one end. Now you'll have a free
hand to hold back the door panel while you insert this rod. When it goes
thru the handle and bore, snap it off at the cut. Viola! After getting
the hang of this, it will no longer be a chore.

.... it has been so long since getting behind the panel. which i hate
doing because of the HUGE pain to get the crank and door opener pins
out.
what a horrible design. also, anyone know a great method to get those
pins in and out?
thanks!
