        Jeff:

There are electric motor services that could probably rebuild it
for you (rewind armatures, rebuild windshield wiper motors, etc) but it
would probably cost as much as a replacement. The replacements can be
had for $75 on eBay (remember that Volvo used the same overdrive, so
look for Volvo spares as well).

        Cheers,

        Vance

Subject: J-type OD solenoid

Hello, my OD stopped working and i suspect it is the solenoid. The
bentley manual doesn't describe the operation very well. I took it off
and connected it to 12 volts. The inside does move up but only about
1/16". When you look at the part that goes into the OD i can't see a
hole where oil flows through. Can solenoids be rebuilt or is it better
just to shell out $200 for a new one?

Thanks,
Jeff
