Many years ago I sold Fel-Pro gaskets at an auto parts store. The
Fel-Pro instructions were to place the metal side to the manifold, as it
expands and contracts more. The metal supposedly helps keep the fiber
material from getting chewed up as the manifolds heats and cools.
