Now am I worried. I checked the pair of webers I purchased from Smitty.
They came with a Holbay head and manifold. They are type 90 and 91. I have
checked my sources and I can find no mention of theses carbs and their
application. Anybody have any information?

Hi Jim,

I checked the two pairs I have and they are the same as you describe and
are type 34 (rear) and 35 (front). they also have the vent under the
wing nut.

The carbs came of a Rapier H120. You may notice that the intake manifold
faces are not parallel. They should be angled at 8 degrees since the
engines in the later fastback cars were inclined over and the manifold
was manufactured to keep the carbs level - which they should be to work
properly.
To use them on your Alpine you either need to get the correct manifold,
or as is more common, have the existing manifold cut and re-welded to
sit the carbs level.

The carbs were part of the Holbay conversion. This engine was used in
the Rapier fastback H120 as you described. It was also used in the
Hillman Hunter GLS in the UK (arrow range).

regards

Jeff
