How much money do you want to spend? Proably the cheapest way to get
more power is to stick a hotter cam in and slap a pair of Weber 40
DCOE's on it. If you are feeling adventurous you could bore the block
out to 82.5mm, put in custom forged flatop aluminum pistons, the
biggest valves you can find (a la Jarrid), an SB3 Isky cam (or hotter
SB4), chevy rods, stroke the crank, and lighten the flywheel. Of
course, there is also the obvious porting of the head and shaping the
combustion chambers. Beyond this, there is not much more that you can
do. I did all this, minus the Webers, for $3500. No small change, but
still a pretty good deal. I couldn't tell you how much HP I'm getting,
maybe 115-120, certainly no more than that.
