Jan,
I think this is too low.  I did all the basics including new pistons, cam, 
lifters, balance, head shave, deck shave bore .40 over and I assembled for a 
(ouch) $1850.00.
Of course, I used a well known race engine machine shop and there are 
probably cheeper out there.
