I've used the Tekonsha Voyager electronic brake control on several different
tow vehicles with good results. When installed it can be tilted 15-20deg and
still function properly, so you have some flexibility in where to mount it.
It has
a "gain" control to adjust for towing light or heavy loads, which is
convenient
if you pull your trailer somewhere without the car on it. I've always had
them
installed by the trailer hitch folks, but I'm pretty sure it's not a terribly
difficult
job if you want to do it yourself. They have more than one model, depending
on how many axle's-worth of brakes your trailer has, so make sure you get
the right one for your particular application.
