I guess the one reason why I see it as beneficial to not publish the
votes is that this is an all volunteer board, and they are also active
competitors. Perhaps it's done simply to prevent any ill will towards
the members that may have voted against a certain proposal. You're
always welcome to find out what the votes were if you inquire, and I
don't see any reason why they should be secret. But I also to see the
need to publish them. If you're concerned enough about the issue to want
to know who voted what way, then you should be interested enough to make
the small additional effort in contacting a member of the SEB to find
out the results.

I can just foresee some member of the SEB/SCAC/SPAG getting publicly
hung out to dry for the way they happened to vote or recommend on a
certain issue, and that's not fair. They're not getting paid for this,
they're doing it because they feel that they can contribute to the club
as a whole. If they (the board/commitee members) feel the need to be
public about it, they're welcome to it. But that I feel should be up to them

On issues that I have been concerned about, I have made it a point to
privately discuss the issue with voting (or non-voting) members. As well
as any salient arguments that the other board members may have had. I
have always found the reasoning behind the voting quite sound. Certainly
not biased in any way, even when I didn't have a dog in the fight. The
members of the SEB are not some secret junta, but an easily accessible
bunch of autoxers. If you're curious about how a vote went, ask 'em. I
just don't see the need to make the votes of each member a thing of
public record. Not secret, but not published either.

Just my $0.02.
