While I appreciate the scientific method of determining the ultimate launch
technique for the fastest launch, there is a point of diminishing returns.
While we don't have any hard data, we have tried everything from slow
controlled clutch slip, to dropping the clutch at around 6000, and we found
that all that dropping the clutch at high RPM does is stress the car ;-).
Are technique is combination of high revs and a controlled release that is
quick enough so as to not spin the clutch. The results are determined by
just watching the car vs the other guy, and with this technique, we are
rarely beat to the first element on the course. A well driven Talon
generally is a tick in front of us at the first element, but it has superior
weight to torque/hp figures, so I expect it to be faster off the line
regardless. I have no plans to change my launch techniques.
