IMHO the ideal arrangement is the "Dutch door"
tailgate on the Astro/Safari minivan twins. Trouble
is, you have to buy an Astro/Safari (if only it had a
V8...)
My Suburban (ok, my father's which I occasionally
borrow) has the doors which work well except that
getting at things in the back tends to result in small
items being spilled.
