Not to mention the fact that it was the _third_ time one of those
Mercedes had
done that in the last several days. No wonder they withdrew the
remaining car!

Actually, I heard that he was sitting next to the wreck when the rescue
crews
arrived. You might be thinking of the Toyota that went out around the
halfway
point - the yellow flag was lengthy so they could extract the driver.
