After running 3 laps at our st louis autox, my z3 (2.8L six cylinder) had a
noticeable ticking noise. Sounded like lifters?
Many participants suggested running 1 quart over max on motor oil for
competition.
Is this a good idea?
What about using the car as a daily driver? Will I need to drain some oil
after the event?
What damage could I do using a little more oil than max.
And finally, the car is under warranty, how serious is this and should I be
looking for repairs?
