I feel the Type R probably has more in common with the BMW than the ACR....

http://integra.vtec.net/carboy.html has a pretty good rundown of the
differences between a GS-R and a Type-R, as well as a VERY detailed
description of the engine tweaks. (They're pretty extensive...)

As was written earlier, they're made to perform the way they look--

My GS-R wouldn't mind if its tweaked brother were re-classed... ;-)

Oh, and while I'm taking up space: I've got a friend looking at the
new Civic Si, with the new VTEC motor. He's in the Seattle area, and
the dealers (2 that he's checked with, one in Renton and one in
Bremerton) have both tacked $2,800 onto the sticker price of the
cars, as a "Market Value Adjustment." They aren't doing that
here....has anyone else seen that on the Civics?

As for the Type R, I don't know a whole lot about them, other than that I
saw one absolutely scream at an event on Sunday. :) They seem to be not
intended as race cars, unlike the ACR and M3 LTW, but more of a
top-of-the-line Integra with lots of go-fast goodies. The Type R does seem
to be a better comparison to the ACR than the M3.
