I've been preaching this for years.  Autocrossing on street tires is
MUCH cheaper than running on stickies unless your wheels are 16" or
larger.  The only problem with it (until the advent of ST) is that there
is no class to be competitive in with this setup.

By the way, I only paid $63 each for my tires... but I had to pay for my
wheels!

This is course dependent.  If it's a wide open course where the 200 hp
car doesn't have to have mondo grip to get some power down, it would be
hard to keep up.  But if it's a "typical" or tighter than typical
course, there's a limit as to how much power can be used and if your
90hp car handles well and you drive it well, you have a chance.

I think driving on street tires is more of a challenge because the limit
of adhesion is so much lower.  To be fast on street tires, you have to
be REALLY good.

Damn, I'm going to feel really bad losing to a car with 369k on the
