"Funny, they said the same thing about the new Celica's in ES, and
Cashmore took an old one with some 25hp less, more weight and less
tourqe and beat up on the
2 best Y2K Celica's in the country in Peru, on a what many would say is
a HP course...."

Oh, Geez!(tm). Not again! <grin>. The Peru courses did have a drag
race start and the 3rd gear nonsense but road racing has taught me to
shift and the zig zags back made us do lots of steady state cornering,
just what my car loves to do. King Thompson would have beaten me but
for a cone on his STOCK shocks. King (yes, of 911 AS fame) has had
something like 3 events in the fwd car while this is the 3rd year in
mine. I drove very well while I believe you said you left some time out
there. Remember, Roger (the real) Johnson isn't doing a Nats course
this year while Frank Stagnaro of CP fame is. Should be interesting,
(and, yes, I'm taking number 98 <grin>)

"It seems like we are taking the perceived problem with how close HS and
ES are and just moving it somewhere else within stock."

This, I will agree with. My best reference has been watching Matt Braun
in Cendiv. He did well in 97-98 in his C4 but didn't quite beat out the
best Rx7's. Looks like he's doing about the same in the C5 this year.
Can't see why they'd separate the C4 and current C5. The Z06 may be
another matter. On the other hand, maybe I should shut up. I could
actually afford a C4 in Class 2! :)
