Back in the days of Yore, I rode motorcycles as my sole means of
transportation. Yore wasn't very far along technically, so instead of the
neat little integrated ignition-switch fork locks, there was a separate
lock down on the steering head itself to lock the steering to one side or
the other- my bike was just about the last to have one of these before the
New Age of Enlightenment began. Not once, nor twice, but three times to
my best recollection the following sequence ensued:
Walk briskly out of mall to motorcycle parked on sidewalk, pulling on
helmet.
Swing leg over bike, pull in clutch, put key in ignition, put bike in
neutral, pop up sidestand.
Hit start button, click shifter into first, let out clutch, feed gas,
attempt to straighten (still locked) front wheel, perform rapidly
descending spiral into pavement...
