Katie, with your wordsmithing skills I expect you'll rent that room in no
time.

I've visited a few 3rd and 4th world countries out in the boondocks where real
people actually live in low tech "sustainable agricultural communities". They
work so hard they have very little time or use for reading, meditating or
gathering in the town square -- and no reason to go from point A to point B. I
guess that's their unique definition of "quality of life". If anyone told them
riding horses or using a Brahma to plow a field is cruelty to animals they
would laugh their heads off.

I have tremendous respect for these people and how hard they work, however
their lives are quite different from the descriptions we hear from the
chanting "back to nature" drum-beaters here in the USA. . .

Riding horses is cruelty to animals, and therefore not a viable means of
transportion.

What we need are sustainable communities, neighborhoods that facilitate
all aspects of quality living without having to rely on the evil
motorcar to get us from point A to point B. These should include our own
agricultural centers, whereby we could live off the land, becoming
closer to nature. Rather than driving to a go kart track, we should have
a town square, where we could all gather to talk, read, or meditate.

I'm getting a headache. Something tells me my mental block isn't
working!

Katie, your clean burning lightweight little 4-cylinder car _is_ better
for
the environment than some of the transportation alternatives. Imagine
how much
"pollution" we would have if everybody rode horses instead of driving
cars.
The air might be cleaner, but the ground sure would not!

I wonder if my current digs have anything to do with my ever decreasing
interest in autocross?

You can't really store stuff. All you can do is hang up pretty pictures.

In the neighbors' house next door, in one of the apartments, every
Thursday evening there's a group that comes there and chants and rings
bells. I wonder if this chanting is sending subliminal messages to me,
like, "Save the earth, Katie. Sell your car."

Fortunately, I went and got one of those mental blocks installed, so I
think I'm okay.

Yup, I told my realtor to look for a 3 car garage,
with a house attached. Gotta get the priorities
straight.
