Yeoh Yiu has this right. However, confusion like this can be avoided.

First, we've all heard the call for volunteer workers. Part of the reason
for these calls is due, not just to DNWs but, to those who choose to work in
a work group not consistent with their chosen run group.

Obviously, working in the correct, assigned, work group facilitates smooth
operation of the event and, is required.

Therefore, deviation from "the plan" should be avoided, except in unusual
circumstances (emergency).

In the case of an "unusual circumstance", permission/concurrence should be
obtained for the deviation, in advance, from an event Chair.

And finally to both save Pat, the "results Lady", a hassel and to avoid
having to get things straightened out later, ANOTHER thing is helpful and
necessary:

ALONG WITH THAT "PERMISSION/CONCURRENCE", AND IN ADDITION TO ENTERING ONE'S
NAME ON THE ACTUAL WORK GROUP LISTING, ONE SHOULD ALSO LIST HIS/HER NAME ON
THE BOTTOM OF THE CORRECT GROUP WORK SHEET NOTING WHICH GROUP HE/SHE
ACTUALLY WILL BE WORKING.
