    I have a 3-hole steering wheel from a '72 MGBGT that I could send
you, it does however have a little rust on it. The car it came
from was sitting in a salvage yard for awhile.

You're no more nuts than I am. Oct. 88 I bought two TR4A's in Livermore
CA. One was very well cared for the other was "Just a Parts CAR!" but it was
one of the finest examples of a parts car I had ever seen. The plan: Fly
to CA, pay for the cars, spend two days verifying that they were ready to
drive to Greeley CO and take two days to drive them home. After checking
the cars over and rebuilding the carbs on the parts car I felt they were
ready to go. We left CA Saturday afternoon with our next planned stop
Reno, well everything went well to Reno no problems and driving at night was
nice. We hit Reno at midnight only to find not a single hotel room available.
Cheking the map we discovered that there is basically nothing between Reno
and Salt Lake Oh Joy! Well we did find a room in a small nameless town
about 60 miles east of Reno and slept till 8 am. Time to get gas, I left
the parts car ideling while I paid for the gas and it overheated. OK
Reajust the timing and mixture for the altitude let the engine cool bum some
water and away we go. 60 miles to nowhere USA, water every where. 30 minutes
later and an empty jug of water in the trunk we are on the road again. Ah ha
a gas station and water, refil the jug. Temp OK maybe I just had one of those
notorious air bubles after the first refil. 60 miles later maybe it wasn't
air, more like water all over again. 30 minutes later cool engine and empty
jugthere must be a leak but where. On the road again, there must be some place
to
get water around here. whoops there goes the Temp, quick stop, find the leak
before everything is soaked again. There it is the thermostat housing.
Fortunatly a parts car comes with spare parts including a new gasket, if only
we had some water to refill the radiator with. Good car off to find water
while I
replace the gasket. 60 minutes later full radiator, on the road again.
Salt Lake here we come. Salt Lake, Midnight, tired, missed the last exit,
into the mountains, there must be one more hotel around here. Green River
WY, 3 am, there's a hotel, should have been home by now. Sleep. 9 am.
on the road again. good car has developed anoying vibration? Keep going,
almost home. Well only a day late. final diagnosis of both cars.
Good car, the vibration was a bad U joint, at least there was a .25" of
metal left. the parts car? well lucky I made it, apparently it had
been hand assembled to get rid of it fast I couldn't find a tight bolt
anywhere in the suspension.
NO you are not nuts. See you in Boulder
