A little more info on the frozen brake adjusters.....

I've tried heat...lots and lots of heat. They won't budge. My assumption is
that
the adjusters and the backing plate have become "one" over the years.
Realistically my only shot at getting them out is going to be drilling them
out.
I'd rather have a machine shop do it with a drill press then me attempt to do
it
using a hand drill with the backing plate still on the car and risking ruining
the backing plates. They aren't available through Moss or victoria British....

Now, the nut is very weirdly shaped I'll try to draw it in ascii.....

                        \ /
                          \ /
                            \ /
                              --------

However the nut is not a perfect octagon but instead looks like a nut would
look
had it been rounded off by using an incorrect socket size. But it was made this
way.... So the 1 and 13/16ths's socket is too small but the 1 and 7/8th's is
too
large because of the weird shape. BTW - I rented both sockets for a couple of
bucks from a rental place...

The nut I got off is marked with MOWOG on it's face (morris - wollesly garage?)
with a large number 8 stamped into one of the sides....

Any help as to what the heck this thing is would be appreciated...argh....
