British-cars is probably dead since most of us are trying to get our running
properly for the summer. Saturday we tried again to get the Triumph 1800
running without overheating. This winter we took the water pump off to
inspect it and had the radiator hot tanked. Saturday we got it all put back
together including new hoses. Added water and fired it up. Nothing but
smoke all over. We still have a random missing problem. The smoke cleared
up some after running a few minutes but is still a concern. It is dificult
to tell if it is oil or water or both.

We then shut it down to check the plugs for fouling. #2 and #3 were very
carbon covered while #4 had a nice brown color and #1 was wet with gas. The
compression was ~110 across all cylinders. We then restarted it and let it
run to see if it would overheat or not. It did but it took considerably
longer than it did last fall. Next step is to work on the ignition to try
and fix the random missing. Wish I had an ignition analyzer.
