The time has come to think about replacing my tires. The wheels are
are standard 15" x 5". 180x15 are the correct size, and I will
have to mail order them, since no one carries these skinny tires
anymore. Now the questions. Who sells these tires at discount
prices? Any recommendations on brands? I think I'll be looking
for H rated tires; maybe S is good enough.
What problems can I expect if I mount wider tires, say 205/70? That
is, what limits the width of the tire that you can mount on a given
rim? Does an oversize tire deform excessively with sideforce (cornering)?
Does this adversely affect handling?
Finally, can someone explain how to calculate the outside diameter
of a tire from the size, i.e. how big is a 185/70x15 compared to
185x15 and 180x15?
