This is a followup on the note that a netter had suffered a less than
satisfactory experience with Scarborough Faire. I would like to reinforce
the notion that they are less than reliable and ethical. I ordered about
$800 worth of stuff from them (for an MGA), got a shipment of a few bits,
and then nothing for four months. After two months, weekly phone calls
(to a _very_ obnoxious woman....) yielded the information that they were
having rouble with their suppliers and that the shipment would be sent
"in a few days". Finally, another lot of stuff arrived (after the
aforemntioned four months), but about $100 worth was still missing. I
asked to cancle the order and get a refund. They do not give refunds,
only credits applied to future orders. By that time there was little that
I wanted from them that they could deliver, so I ate the rest and got it
(what I needed) from Moss.
Note also that they charged my bankcard on receipt of order, far before they
shipped. They also did not refund core charges until the ship date.
Bottom line: Slick catalog, good prices but stay away. The whole order would
have cost $100 more at Moss, but I would have gotten it....
