Anthony,
Did you put a NEW rear leaf in the car? I'll presume you did, and that it
was for a late model spit.
If you're a bigger man, there is one spring in particular that will work
for you, or you can have a shop re-arc your current spring to a greater bend.
The spring I'm thinking of came only on 73 and 74 GT-6's and is therefore
somewhat rare. When Triumph went away from the Rotoflex type rear end on the
GT-6's they moved to a straight axle design, with a pivoting rear leaf which
will work on your car.
One more option, buy some Gas Pressurized shock absorbers for the rear.
Since both connections are eylet type, bring your old shock into Midas or
Les Schwab or whatever and get a unit that is dimensionally similar but has
stiff gas pressure inside. You can probably get away for under $50.
