I know of a case where something similar to this was done; but not to a
Mayflower.  This occurred on Wake Island where my dad was stationed just
after WW II.  Things got a little slow so a bunch of bored mechanics
installed an Allison in an army jeep.  Unfortunately a couple of them 
were killed when the massive torque of the engine flip the jeep over on
its maiden run.
