Someone penned (I lost the reference...)

I've been through this for my TR6 a while ago. All I had was the reference for
the PH966B. The local auto parts place had a fram book, complete with thread
pitch/gasket size/dimensional cross-references for their whole line. The
PH2825 was one of two (other than the 966) which have the right threads/gasket,
and will actuall fit in the space (diameter is critical - length not quite
so critical). The PH2825 happens to be the one used on lots of VW water-cooled
engines, and hence, are real common (at least in these parts) and fairly cheap.
It also has the advantage of having greater volume than the 966, which is good
if you have an old, ropey engine which lots of blow-by (who, me?). John
sez check it out.
