Well, you've come to the right place....

Look very carefully at the location that the trailing arms mount to the
frame. Very easy to get to, it's just behind the seats, and underneath
the car. If there is rust on these pieces, get up, dust yourself off,
and say 'Thanks, but no thanks'. Repairing/replacing these sections is
very time and labour intnsive, requiring up to a body off repair or a
new frame. I'd suspect that this is the case with that as a price.
Other places to look for rust:
Top of the rear wheel arch, along the seam of the fender.
On top of the taillight section that wraps around the rear corner.
(the part on the rear quarterpanel)
The driver's side floor, underneath the pedals.
The bottom of the front fenders, right at the junction with the
firewall.
That's about it.
->P.S. Any suggestions as to how to convince my wife that we really do need
->2 Triumphs. (I tried the - One for you, and one for me. - She's not
->supposed to drive a manual, so it didn't work.) Her most valid argument
->is the lack of room for 4 cars and 2 boats.
